Tucson's special election on May 16 to vote on a proposed half-cent sales tax increase will be vote-by-mail only.
If you have moved recently and changed addresses, changed your name or just need to register you'll have to fill out a voter registration form by April 17.
Ballots will be mailed to residents within Tucson city limits on April 27.
A "yes" vote on Proposition 101 would approve a half-cent sales tax increase, raising $100 million to fix Tucson streets. Another $150 million would be spent on vehicles, equipment, and facilities for the Tucson Police Department and Tucson Fire Department.
The sales tax would go up from 2 cents per $1 to 2½ cents for the next five years.
Here's how to update your voter registration according to the Pima County Recorder's office:
1. Do you have a current Arizona Driver's License or state-issued ID?
The easiest way to register to vote or to update your voter record is to go to http://servicearizona.com
• Click on the box labeled “Address/Email Change” and verify your information is accurate. If the information needs updating, make the necessary changes first.
• Go back to the home page and click on the box labeled “Voter Registration”. Fill out the voter registration form. (Note: Changes made in the “Address/Email Change” area do not automatically update your Voter Registration Record)
2. Forms are available at multiple locations throughout the county: any Pima County Recorder’s office, any Arizona Department of Motor Vehicle branch, all post offices and libraries, political party headquarters, and city/town halls.
3. Voters can download a form directly from the Recorder’s website, complete it and mail it in.
