Arizona’s men’s golf team makes its season debut this week at the North Ranch Intercollegiate in Los Angeles. What makes the tournament notable is that coachΒ Jim Anderson’s team will start true freshmanΒ George CunninghamΒ in the No. 1 slot. It’s unlikely a freshman has ever been Arizona’sΒ No. 1 golfer in the season opener. Arizona Amateur championΒ Alex McMahonΒ will play No. 2, and another touted freshman,Β Peter Koo, will play No. 4.
