Leading up to Wednesday’s national letter-of-intent day, UA baseball coach Andy Lopez is expected to sign Chicago-based pitcher Trent Johnson, one of 16 players from the Chicago Elite Training team program who will sign D-I scholarship papers Wednesday. Johnson, tabbed as Illinois’ top pitching prospect for 2015 by at least one recruiting website, was coached by ex-Wildcat and CDO infielder Phil Wright, who coached the Dorados to three state titles before moving to the Chicago area to coach and teach 10 years ago.
