More people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arizona on Jan. 3, 2022 than any other day on record. Meanwhile, the omicron variant has established dominance.
New weekly COVID-19 cases in Pima County more than doubled recently, rising more than 125% to 5,300 in the last week of December.
Omicron cases already account for a majority of cases across the country, but the highly contagious variant has yet to hit Arizona in the same way.
