No. 12 Arizona vs. No. 13 Arizona State college football

Arizona safety Anthony Lopez (28), right, scoops up an Arizona State fumble and returns it for a touchdown during the first quarter of the No. 12 University of Arizona vs. No. 13 Arizona State college football game on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

Wildcats' Lopez wants to 'make new memories' in 2015

I asked UA senior safety Anthony Lopez how many times he has watched the replay of his 25-yard touchdown in last year’s Territorial Cup, and he said “just a few.” What? It was Lopez’s first college touchdown. It came after Scooby Wright sacked ASU quarterback Taylor Kelly and forced a fumble. It was the play of a lifetime for a kid from Gilbert Mesquite High School. “If I want to be effective this year, I’ve got to play well enough to make new memories,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of work to do.” Well said. Lopez scored 25 touchdowns as a high school junior, a running back, and chose Arizona over Oregon State. Why didn’t he stay home at ASU? “I never went to an ASU game in my life,” he said.
