Zeus, ex-Cat Stokes share similar skills

The most applicable comparison to Arizona junior center Kaleb Tarczewski is 7-foot UA center Ed Stokes. From 1990 to 1993, Stokes scored 984 points; Zeus has 941. Stokes had 644 rebounds; Zeus has 637. Stokes averaged 8.1 points; Zeus averages 8.6. Both were physical specimens who could run the court well. Both had difficulty with ball control. Both were smart, team-first and education-oriented. Stokes was drafted No. 35 overall and played just four NBA games (Toronto, 1998). He played in Greece, Italy, Cypress, Argentina, Portugal and France. Today, Stokes is an insurance executive in Phoenix. Tarczewski’s decision — turn pro or stay in school — will be exceedingly difficult. Let’s hope he can do as well as Ed Stokes did.
