2016 record: 9-4, 7-1 ACC

Coach: Bobby Petrino (eighth year)

Sked or alive? Louisville also jumps right into the deep end to begin ACC play, visiting North Carolina in Week 2 and hosting Clemson in Week 3. It gets easier after that, but a showdown with Florida State in Tallahassee looms on Oct. 21. The Cardinals humiliated the ’Noles 63-20 last year.

Why they’re here: QB Lamar Jackson is back after a Heisman Trophy-winning campaign in which he dazzled through mid-November but fizzled down the stretch. He’ll put up monster numbers again, but it won’t be enough to topple FSU and Clemson in the ACC Atlantic.
