RAWLINS, Wyo. β€” The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is continuing efforts to strengthen and sustain the state's bighorn sheep population by using land management programs.

The department recently relocated 24 bighorn sheep from the Devil's Canyon herd near Lovell to the Ferris-Seminoe herd north of Rawlins.

According to the Rawlins Daily Times (http://tinyurl.com/gmlwxyh ), the Ferris and the Seminoe herds failed to thrive because the lambs were being born in June and they had to forage on vegetation that was already turning brown.

Officials say the additional bighorn sheep were needed to help the herd survive.
