There are certain perks to having your hometown tapped as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

Having a cocktail created right here in the Old Pueblo emulated and served in Paris is just one of them.

On Thursday, six Tucson bartenders will compete at the Carriage House, 125 S. Arizona Ave., to create cocktails that best represent "the flavors of Tucson," according to the Facebook event page

The winner's cocktail will then be served at a reception at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 28, accompanied by a dish created by chef Janos Wilder.

The public is invited to attend the cocktail challenge, which begins at 5 p.m. Thursday. $25 will get you a cocktail tasting, light snacks and a ballot to vote.
