A 78-year-old woman has died of injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle crash on East 22nd Street on June 20, police say.

Teresa Rojo Almeida died on Oct. 1, police were notified by the Pima County medical examiner.

The Tucson Police Department gave the following account in a news release Monday:

Almeida had been driving west at noon June 20 in the 2300 block of 22nd Street in the curb lane when she suddenly moved into another vehicle's lane, colliding with the front of that car. Both vehicles lost control and struck palm trees in the raised median, police said.

Almeida was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries; the driver of the second car was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision, and neither was determined to be impaired. No citations were issued.
