ASU offense vs. Arizona defense

The Sun Devils don’t rely on three-pointers as much as they did last season under Herb Sendek, and that’s probably a good thing, since they hit them at only a 31.8 percent rate. But ASU has a balanced offense that uses ball screens heavily and can score off ball screens or by getting in to the paint, running nearly everything through scoring-minded point guard Tra Holder. The Sun Devils are also an effective offensive rebounding team. A number of ASU players can shoot it from three-point range, including Holder, Gerry Blakes, Andre Spight, Willie Atwood and Kodi Justice. Inside, Eric Jacobsen has shed 20 pounds from last season and is a reliable low-post option, while Savon Goodman is expected to bring his rugged game back Sunday after being sidelined for an unspecified personal issue. When he’s in at power forward, ASU prefers to shift Atwood to small forward.
