First-grade students learn how to help assist someone in distress in a pool. Hundreds of first-graders attend a reward event for their participation in the Water Safety is for YOU! program. The event was held April 10 at the Pascua Yaqui Wellness Center, 5305 Calle Torim. About 700 students and their teacher participated in the safety program. The program is sponsored by Safe Kids Pima County, Tucson Medical Center, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Drowning Prevent Coalition of Arizona, Southwest Ambulance, Drexel Heights Fire District, the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Pima County agencies, DeMont Family Swim School and Rural Metro.
