The Florida Fire was sparked by lightning July 7, 2005, in the Santa Rita Mountains in the Colorado National Forest.

Flames reach an estimated 100-200 feet into the air as the Florida Fire destroys more acreage in the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson, Ariz., on Monday July 11, 2005. The lightning-caused fire is burning in a wilderness area of the Coronado National Forest. Steep, rugged terrain is making it difficult for the 490 firefighters to directly combat the fire.
