Just after 5 a.m., a single-vehicle crashed into the center divider cables in the median of I-10 between Avra Valley and Twin Peaks Roads.
The driver was alone in the car and was transported to Banner UMC by Northwest Fire paramedics in life threatening condition and later died at the hospital.
While state troopers were clearing the fatal crash, a second crash occurred nearby with little damage and no deaths.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating both incidents.
