Wright won the Bronko Nagurski Award, given annually to the top defensive player in college football.Β He beat out finalists Landon Collins (Alabama), Malcolm Brown (Texas), Senquez Golson (Ole Miss) and Gerod Holliman (Louisville) to win the award.

Wright is the second player in UA history to win the Nagurski. Rob Waldrop captured it in 1993, the first year of the award’s existence.
