Utah Valley basketball coach Mark Pope, a former center at Washington and Kentucky, offered scholarships last week to Salpointe Catholic High School sophomore Evan Nelson and to Amphitheater guard Jackson Ruai. He’s aiming high: With good progress, both Ruai and Nelson appear to be destined for college basketball at a higher entry point than the Western Athletic Conference.
