Familiar face
Jay John sat courtside Thursday, sporting a new role.
John does color commentary for Cal’s radio broadcasts after serving as an assistant under former coach Mike Montgomery. The Salpointe Catholic grad was an assistant coach under Lute Olson at the UA from 1998-2002. After that, he was the head coach at Oregon State from 2002-08. When he was at Arizona, John focused on power forwards and centers.

1 Career losses in McKale for T.J. McConnell, and that came when he was with Duquesne in 2011. McConnell transferred to the UA the following year, and — after reshirting — has been undefeated at home as the starter.
