Ben Kern, who won the 2001 state golf championship while at Palo Verde High School, won the North Texas PGA Championship last week at 7-under par. Kern, now the head pro at the Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene, Texas, qualified for the 2018 PGA National Championship, from which the top 20 finishers are seeded into the 2018 PGA Championship.
