Northwest Fire District crew members take a breather along the Marshall Gulch trail as slurry planes drop their loads on the next ridge. The firefighters hiked more than four miles into the thin air at 8,000 feet. 

While most of Summerhaven, a popular destination for Tucsonans for its hiking and cool mountain scenery atop Mt. Lemmon, was destroyed, the majority of the residents vowed to rebuild.
