UA alum Matt Giardina can relate to the local football mentality. He works with a few Texas A&M grads in Houston, and mentioned the Wildcats and Aggies would be playing each other.
They didnβt even know, or care much, he said.
But that didnβt stop Giardina and over 100 UA alums in the Houston-area BayouCats club from showing up for a pregame breakfast party a few blocks from the Toyota Center, then going to the game and sitting together to watch UAβs 67-63 win.
Linda Nickell, president of the BayouCats, said she estimates there are about 3,000 UA alums living in the Houston area. A sizable crowd of them even went to the UA-Rice baseball games early last season, outvoicing even the Owls fans.Β
