- Cox Communications Arizona: Cox has partnered with Arizona Bilingual newspaper and La Caliente radio to showcase local Latino community leaders, including an outstanding Cox employee for their continued efforts in the communities they serve. The 2018 honorees featured include: Lia Pierse, executive director of Helping Hands for Single Moms Tucson; Dora Martinez, founder of the Flowers and Bullets Collective; Tony Lopez-Santiago, route manager for Finley Distributing; and Cesar Morales, field operations supervisor for Cox Communications.
- Drexel Heights Fire District: Drexel Heights Fire District has received a nearly $400,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Drexel Heights will use the funding to obtain cardiac monitor/defibrillator equipment and to provide training. The AFG’s purpose is to make direct awards to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public.
- AZ Pure Water Brew Challenge: Pima County’s AZ Pure Water Brew Challenge project won the Governor’s Award for Arizona’s Future at the 38th annual Arizona Forward Environmental Excellence Awards presented by SRP. Arizona Forward honored the project for its effort to effectively steward water resources and engage the public in sustainability efforts. Led by the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department, the AZ Pure Water project helped change the perception regarding recycled water by using recycled water to produce ultra-pure bottled water and ultimately craft beers.
