In a space where cooks once flipped eggs over easy and relegated tuna to a sandwich, William Cheung and his staff are creating what they say is a truly special Japanese all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant.
Cheung, who has two other Tucson Restaurants â the 7-year-old Hana Tokyo at 5435 S Calle Santa Cruz and the 3-year-old Wok and Roll Asian buffet at 3000 W. Ina Road â says his newest venture, Izumi, located in a former Dennyâs restaurant at 3655 E. Speedway, includes items you canât get at any other all-you-ca-eat sushi restaurant: crab legs and oysters.
Both are included in the $25 price, although you can only get one serving of each per person.
Izumi opened in early March, filling what Cheung said was a void in the culinary landscape of East Speedway.
âItâs just a good location on Speedway. I think theyâre lacking,â he said.
Izumi’s menu includes an array of sushi rolls and nigiri and as well as classic Japanese dishes including ramen. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Details: facebook.com/IzumiTucson
