When it comes to self improvement, small changes are easier to make than big ones. What if you could see more than 100 percent improvement in a short period of time with very little effort? It may be easier than you think.
What are a few areas of your life that you would like to improve? Would you like to be a better spouse? Would you like to see your sales increase? Maybe you need to improve your public speaking skills and your ability to motivate others?
Focus on one area you want to develop and commit to 1 percent improvement every day for the next 90 days. If you can do that, you will be more than twice as good as you are today. This is due to the principle of compounding interest.
Before you select the area you need to develop, make sure it is the right one to be working on. We usually do not see ourselves as other people do. What we view as our greatest strengths, others may find as limitations.
Imagine a business and life coach who views their ability to offer good advice as their single greatest strength. Every time they talk to people who have issues, the coach instinctively starts solving problems and offering solutions. Sometimes they are in such a hurry to solve the problem that they interrupt before they have all the facts. Without all of the necessary information, the coach may jump to the wrong conclusion and offer bad advice. What the coach originally thought was their greatest strength is actually a huge liability. The coach has lost the ability to listen and help others develop their own solutions.
Ask the people closest to you what you really need to work on. This can be family, friends or others. Once you know what you need to do, commit to small amounts of improvement every day. Small changes can make a big difference.
