Humble Pie coming
to La Encantada

Humble Pie, the seven-year-old Scottsdale-based artisanal pizza chain, is making its move into the Tucson market.

The 2,000-square-foot restaurant is set to open on Black Friday, Nov. 27, in La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive. Find it in the second level space that housed Bluepoint Kitchen & Bar for six years until it closed in 2010.

The restaurant includes an 800-square-foot patio with striking views of the Catalina Mountains and an inside-outside bar, said the company’s communications director, Cathy Jahnke.

This is the first Humble Pie restaurant to open outside of the company’s Phoenix area base, she said.

The restaurant is coattail cousins with another new La Encantada venture, The Living Room, Wine Cafe and Lounge, which opened Oct. 9 on the center’s lower level. Jahnke said both share a common principal owner, Phoenix restaurateur Tom Kaufman, who once lived in Tucson. Several of Kaufman’s partners in the venture also have Tucson ties, including attending the University of Arizona.

Humble Pie’s menu of artisanal pies are topped with house-made mozzarella, the house signature sausage made with roasted fennel, old-world style Pavone pepperoni, pancetta and an assortment of fresh and roasted vegetables. Prices run from $10 to $16.

The menu also includes pastas, salads and sandwiches.

Humble Pie will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays starting Nov. 27.

Humble Pie has eight Phoenix-area locations, including two — a fast-service counter and a sit-down restaurant — that just opened in Sky Harbor International Airport.
