Later this summer hundreds of the world's most elite athletes will descend upon Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

On Friday, May 20, some of Tucson's elite baristas — and a couple from Phoenix — will descend upon Presta Coffee Roasters on North First Avenue for the "Barista Olympics."

OK, so there's really no comparison between the two Olympics and what the folks at Presta have planned on Friday to celebrate their first anniversary. But surely we'll get a great cup of joe from the deal.

Here's what's in store:

• When: Registration at 5 p.m. Friday, May 20; competitions start at 6.

• Where: Presta Coffee Roasters, 2502 N. First Ave.

• Who: Barsitas competing in a burlap sack race, taste test, collaborative latte art challange, best pour over, espresso puck toss and a final latte art competition. Public is invited to watch.

• At stake: Coffee-centric prizes from sponsors including Baratza, Hario, Chemex, Espresso Parts and others.

• Cost: Free.
