Mister Car Wash, the biggest car-wash chain in the nation, unveiled its new national headquarters this week in a renovated historic building at 222 E. Fifth St.
Eighty of the company’s Tucson-based staffers welcomed nearly 200 guests, many of whom took tours of the recently completed 25,000-square-foot building downtown, which was built in 1952 by the First Baptist Church.
Special guests included Kris Galashan of Leonard Green & Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm that acquired Mister Car Wash in August.
Mister Car Wash CEO John Lai thanked the nearly 5,000 Mister Car Wash employees in 14 states. The Tucson area has eight locations.
“We may be the largest car-wash company in the United States, but our goal is to be the largest and best car-wash company in the world, and we couldn’t do it without our people,” Lai said. “It’s been 18 years and we’re really just getting started.”
The new headquarters features ample office and training space, and later this month, the company will launch a managers-in-training program. The building also features a fitness center and loaner bikes for employees to use around town.
