Park Place appoints
Ivy as general manager

Tami Ivy was appointed general manager at Park Place.

She will be β€œresponsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the mall and creating an environment that enhances customer satisfaction, driving tenant sales and positioning the property for future growth,” a Park Place news release said.

Ivy, a magna cum laude business administration graduate of the University of Arizona, previously served as director of field marketing for General Growth Properties, the mall’s owner, and held senior positions in marketing in Tucson and Mesa. Ivy also was marketing director for shopping center companies in Utah and Arkansas.

She is a Senior Certified Marketing Director with the International Council of Shopping Centers and is an ICSC maxi, merit and silver award winner for Excellence in Shopping Center Marketing.

Spegman is named
El Rio chief clinical officer

Dr. Douglas Spegman, was named chief clinical officer of El Rio Community Health Center.

Spegman began his clinical work with El Rio Community Health Center in 1994 and became associate medical director in 2003. He also served as chief of staff at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital from 2005 to 2007.

He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, his bachelor’s from Colgate University of New York and his masters in public health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Spegman was senior vice president of Clinical Excellence and chief medical officer at Carondelet Health Network from 2008-2010. He returned to El Rio Community Health Center in 2010 as chief quality officer.

He has also served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador and in refugee health care projects through the auspices of UN High Commission for Refugees in Honduras and the Sudan.

Ooi named assistant prof
at UA College of Pharmacy

Aikseng Ooi joined the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Ooi was recruited from an interdisciplinary renal oncology laboratory in the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, Mich.

At the college, Ooi teaches in both the doctor of philosophy and doctor of pharmacy programs. He will also maintain research programs in molecular carcinogenesis and in computational biology.

Chen new tennis instructor at El Conquistador resort

Frank Chen was named instructor of tennis at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, which bills itself as the largest tennis facility in Southern Arizona.

Chen joins the resort’s staff as a USPTA certified instructor, after a career of playing at the junior and collegiate level, He has trained in Taiwan, Australia and throughout the United States. In his new position, Chen will offer new methods and views on coaching, the resort said in a news release.

Pima sheriff promotes Nanos to chief deputy

Pima County’s sheriff promoted Christopher G. Nanos to chief deputy, from his most recent position as chief of the investigations bureau.

Nanos has served in each of the Sheriff’s Department’s four bureaus. He brings nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience to his new role, with a strong emphasis in criminal investigations, particularly in violent crimes and narcotics. He will be second in command of an organization of more than 1,500 employees, a Sheriff’s Department news release said.

Nanos majored in public administration at the University of Texas at El Paso. He was a police officer in the El Paso Police Department before joining the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in 1984.

Eddy new marketing director


for TCI Wealth Advisors

Missy Eddy joined TCI Wealth Advisors Inc. as director of marketing. She is responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s marketing programs in seven locations: Tucson, Scottsdale, Flagstaff, Denver, Reno/Tahoe, Santa Fe and Santa Monica. The firm’s headquarters is in Tucson.

Eddy brings nearly 10 years experience in marketing, advertising and public relations to the position. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor of science in business administration and a master of business administration, both with a concentration in marketing, from the Eller College of Management.

Eddy is actively involved with the Junior League of Tucson and the Silver & Turquoise Board of Hostesses.

Truly Nolen’s Ringlstetter named training

director

Mark Ringlstetter was promoted to director of training and technical services at Truly Nolen’s Tucson headquarters.

He was previously a sales inspector and a branch manager and district manager for Truly Nolen in California. He joined the company after an extensive background in retail work.

Ringlstetter β€œwill now lead all technical aspects for the 75-year-old family-owned company as well as ensuring training programs are developed and maintained to promote empowered branch managers throughout the country,” the company said in a news release.

Luois named assistant
to Zanes Law CEO

Zanes Law, a personal injury firm with offices in Tucson and Phoenix, announced that Cynthia Luois has joined its team as executive assistant to nonlawyer CEO Claudia Zanes.

A cum laude graduate of the University of Arizona with degrees in gender studies and political science and a minor in Arabic, Luois is co-author of the Amazon.com best-seller “Defining Moments of Courage,” Zanes Law said in a news release.

She has founded and managed firms in education, personal growth and publishing. She also has a background in arts management, conflict resolution and nonprofits in Southern California and Arizona. She was a legal assistant at Zanes Law from 2008-2010.
