Tucson International Airport

Passengers line up on the first day of the new security checkpoint for the β€œB” gates at Tucson International Airport in April 2017.

The second of two redesigned security checkpoints at Tucson International Airport opens Wednesday, Sept. 20, as the airport’s terminal renovation project continues.

The new Transportation Security Administration checkpoint is at the entry to the airport’s A Concourse, which serves passengers departing on Southwest and United airlines, at the east end of the terminal on the ticketing level.

TIA completed a new checkpoint on the B Concourse in April.

The new checkpoints allow for an expanded configuration of the TSA’s security equipment and provides additional room for a fourth lane to potentially be added. Additions include a new β€œrecomposure area” for passengers to gather themselves and their belongings after going through the security.
