Aeromar

Aeromar now flies between Tucson, Culiacan, Guadalajara and Hermosillo every day but Tuesday and Saturday.

Aeromar is adding a fifth weekly day of flights to Mexico from Tucson International Airport, after introducing flights about seven months ago.

With the new Wednesday flights, which start this week, business and leisure travelers can now fly five days a week — not on Tuesdays and Saturdays — between Tucson and three Mexican cities: Hermosillo, Culiacán and Guadalajara.

The added day is the second change Aeromar has made to its schedule since introducing flights from Tucson to Mexico last October.

In March, in response to passenger demand, Aeromar added service to Culiacán and shortened the flying time to Guadalajara.

Felipe Garcia, who oversees Mexico marketing as executive vice president of Visit Tucson, said the added day will bring more people from Mexico to shop, play and stay in the Old Pueblo.

“This responds to people we’ve heard from asking for the convenience of being able to fly more days of the week,” Garcia said.

Bonnie Allin, president and CEO of the Tucson Airport Authority, said the new flights are an important addition that will help the economies of regions on both sides of the border “and further strengthen the long-established and important ties between Southern Arizona and the states of Sonora, Sinaloa and Jalisco.”
