A new transitional housing complex for homeless veterans will open Wednesday on Tucson’s east side.
The complex at Esperanza En Escalante, 3700 S. Calle Polar, is a project of Wisconsin-based affordable housing developer Gorman & Co., in partnership with the Arizona Department of Housing, Pima County Community Development, the City of Tucson and Esperanza En Escalante, a Tucson nonprofit that offers programs to help homeless veterans.
The complex has 44 one-bedroom units and a community center.
Homeless vets will be placed in the complex through programs administered by Esperanza En Escalante, said Ron Merrit, a Gorman & Co. spokesman.
Wednesday’s grand opening ceremony with be a private event.
