• Camp Wellness: The camp, a University of Arizona program that helps adults with serious mental illnesses develop healthy lifestyles, has been selected for the 2016 Recognition of Excellence in Wellness award given by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Camp Wellness is one of three programs in the nation to receive this year’s award.
  • The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa: The resort received the 2016 Best of Meetings Today Award, as selected by a national panel of meeting planners and presented in the September issue of Meetings Today magazine. The resort’s meeting space includes 64,000 square feet of β€œinnovative indoor and outdoor options.”
  • University of Arizona College of Medicine β€” Tucson: The college has been honored with Insight Into Diversity magazine’s 2016 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award, based on recruitment and retention of students and employees and best practices for both.
  • Tucson Water and the UA: Three Southern Arizona projects earned first-place Crescordia awards in Arizona Forward’s 36th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards, held statewide for the second year. Earning first-place Crescordias were Tucson Water’s Conservation and Education Program, UA’s Beyond the Mirage and Tucson Water’s Advanced Oxidation Process Project.
  • Nicolette Teufel-Shone: Teufel-Shone, a professor of family and child health at the UA’s Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, has received the Native Research Network award for Excellence in Training, for commitment and mentorship to Native American investigators within the Center for American Indian Resilience.
  • Hanna Phan: Phan, an associate professor at the UA College of Pharmacy, was selected as a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
  • Patricia F. Raskob: Raskob, of Raskob Kambourian Financial Advisors LTD, has been named one of the country’s top 150 financial advisors for doctors for the 18th consecutive year by Medical Economics magazine. Additionally, Raskob Kambourian Financial Advisors was named by Financial Advisors Magazine as one of the top-ranking registered investment advisory firms in the country for the fourth year.
  • Town of Marana: Marana was honored by 3CMA (the City/County Communications and Marketing Association) with two of its annual Savvy Awards, one for the town’s overall website and the other for its citizen engagement efforts to solicit input on the design of the new Tangerine Sky Community Park.
  • Wayne B. Kielsmeier: Kielsmeier, owner of Covington Fine Arts Gallery Inc. and Covington Art Appraisals, has earned the distinction of certified / accredited appraiser from the Appraisers National Association.
  • Dan Longanecker: Principal contract officer for the city of Tucson’s Department of Procurement, Longanecker received the Buyer of the Year Award issued by the Institute for Public Procurement Copper Chapter of Southern Arizona. He also was named a finalist for the institute’s National Buyer of the Year Award.
  • Pima County Small Business Commission seeks nominations: The commission is seeking nominations for its 2016 Small Business of the Year Awards. The deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 9. Criteria, other information and nomination forms are online at: www.gvrec.org/2016-small-business-award-application
