This site near Interstate 10 and West St. Mary’s Road is being prepared for a U-Haul storage facility. Elsewhere, Dick’s Sporting Goods is coming to the Tucson Mall, and student housing is being built at East Broadway and North Park Avenue.

Canyon Building and Design is clearing the land south of St. Mary’s Road and east of Interstate 10 for a future U-Haul storage facility.

A $9.1 million building permit was issued for the 107,565-square-foot industrial building that will be three stories tall at 450 N. Freeway.

Other construction activity around town includes:

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods is moving into the Tucson Mall, 4500 N. Oracle Road. A $3.5 million tenant-improvement permit was issued for 50,999 square feet of retail space.
  • The Mark Student Housing project at 999 E. Broadway got a $52 million building permit for a 595-bed, 433,000-square-foot development.
  • A $26 million permit was issued for The Place at Riverwalk, a 210-unit complex at 350 N. Craycroft Road.
  • The permit for the foundation of the future Caterpillar Surface Mining & Technology division was issued for $3.1 million.
  • A new assisted living and memory care facility pulled a $3 million permit to start construction at 3900 N. Sabino Canyon Road.
  • Galaxy Theaters, 100 S. Houghton Road, pulled a $2.2 million tenant-improvement permit at the site of a former grocery store.
  • A $2.8 million permit was issued for Mister Car Wash corporate offices at 415 N. Sixth Ave.
  • Circle K got a $749,000 permit for a new store and fuel station at 2332 N. Oracle Road.
  • Denny’s restaurant at 5000 N. Oracle Road will be demolished and replaced under a $604,000 permit.
  • A $1.2 million permit was issued for more than 21,000 square feet of industrial space at 2310 W. Gardner Lane.
