Arizona alumnus Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors, acknowledges the Arizona fans prior to the Arizona vs. Xavier Sweet 16 game in the NCAA Tournament at SAP Center, March 23, 2017, in San Jose, Calif. Mike Christy / Arizona Daily Star

The crowd at SAP Center on Thursday was a who’s who of Arizona basketball fan favorites.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr made the trip to San Jose and sat 10 rows behind Arizona’s bench. He was joined by Bruce Fraser, another former Arizona player who is now an assistant on Kerr’s staff.

Former UA forward Brandon Ashley sat at the front of that section, next to Arizona women’s basketball coach Adia Barnes. Ashley is from the Bay Area; he played at Bishop O’Dowd High School.

Also in attendance: Miles Simon, the hero of Arizona’s 1997 title run, and Tom Tolbert, a fan favorite from the 1980s.
