Latin It Up had one of the coolest menus in town, with awesome sandwiches from South American countries like Brazil and Peru. That seems to be a thing of the past.

The sign has been taken down from its colorful storefront at 344 N. Fourth Ave. A banner advertising "Available restaurant space" from local property owners Fenton Investment Company sits in its place. There's also a message written on the chalkboard sign: "Everything must GO," it reads. Inside, the furniture is gone and the space looks empty.

Fourth Avenue looks a little less colorful now that the sign is gone from this cute little storefront.

Originally called La Plancha when it started in 2015, the restaurant served fusion foods from Irene Echeandia's multicultural family, with roots in Brazil and Peru. The restaurant's Frango Louco sandwich with Peruvian Huancaina cheese sauce was singled out on my Best New Dishes of 2016 list. "The more you eat, the richer it becomes," I wrote.

Before it was Latin It Up, the space had been home to a number of concepts including the crepe restaurant Cafe Marcel.
