Classical music choices this week:
• Sons of Orpheus — The Male Choir of Tucson — For 26 consecutive years, Sons of Orpheus has celebrated spring with a big blowout gala concert. This year's event will spread throughout the month of April, kicking off Sunday, April 9, and running through the month.
Founding director Grayson Hirst will lead the spring concert series, which features soprano Lindsey McHugh, banjo player Jeff Sanders and the Tucson band Area 51. Also taking the spotlight: Orpheus tenors Jeremiah Gaefke and Darwin Hall; and Arnold Hunter playing the Theremin, an early electronic instrument. The program includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Hollywood movie themes and classic Beach Boys tunes.
Tickets are $15 at the door or in advance from Sons of Orpheus choir members. Performances are at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1220 W. • Green Valley Stage Band — Santa Rita Springs Fiesta Deck, 921 W. Via Rio Fuerte. The community band has been around since 1990, playing music from the 1940s, '50s and up. 6-8 p.m. April 9. $10. 625-0288.
• Trialogue World Music — CPAC, 1250 W. Continental Road, Green Valley. Grammy-nominated Tucson percussionist Will Clipman brings his latest new age project Trialogue — with multi-flutist and Heart Dance Records recording artist Sherry Finzer and luthier and guitarist Darin Mahoney — to perform from 7-9 p.m. April 12. $15. 399-1750.
