Country Thunder headliner Eric Church was last at the Florence festival in 2013. β€œCountry Thunder is one of my favorite (festivals). I can count three or four on one hand that I enjoy and that’s one. … It feels more like our regular show than most of those feel like and that’s probably why we enjoy going back.”

All it the gift of good routing, but every year when Country Thunder rolls around we end up with a crop of freshly-minted Academy of Country Music Award-winners on the lineup.

This year is no exception: The lineup coming our way this weekend includes several artists whoΒ walked away Sunday with Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. Among them:

β€’ Florida Georgia Line, headlining Friday, April 8, took home vocal duo of the year.

β€’ Old Dominion, which plays the main stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, and the Jack Daniels Stage a few hours later on Thursday, won best new vocal group or duo. The Virginia-born quintet lost its second nomination for vocal group of the year.

β€’ Eric Church, the big man headlining Sunday, April 10, lost out on entertainer and male vocalist of the year, but he took home the trophy for video of the year for "Mr. Misunderstood."

These Country Thunder artists were nominated for ACM awards but came home empty handed:

β€’ Chris Janson ("Buy Me A Boat"), new male vocalist. Catch him at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 9.Β

β€’ Cam ("Burning House"), new female vocalist; video of the year; and single and song of the year. She's on the main stage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.Β
