A necklace by Joyce Robins will be part of the “Head to Toe” show at the UA Museum of Art.

Art isn’t just for hanging on the wall.

It can also be what we wear.

Case in point: “Head to Toe,” an art-centric fundraiser for the University of Arizona Museum of Art.

Saturday, Nov. 5, students from the UA School of Dance will glide through the museum’s main gallery modeling wearable art, from jewelry to scarves to clothing.

UA Dance Professor Michael Williams has choreographed the runway show.

More than 28 artists are represented in the show. And the museum is setting up a pop-up shop for those who see and must have the items, which will also include artworks of the nonwearable kind.

“This is something so completely different from what we’ve done before,”says Gina Compitello-Moore, the museum’s marketing manager. “We’re showcasing art in a new way.”

Among the Tucson artists with works in the show are Joseph Birdsong, Moira Geoffrion, Shirley Wagner, Nicki Adler, Barbara Rogers, Laura Tanzer and Rameen Ahmed.

The fundraiser is 6-10 p.m. on Saturday at the museum in the UA Fine Arts complex, near North Park Avenue and East Speedway. The pop-up shop will also be open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, featuring items not sold at the event. Tickets to the fundraiser are $150.
