Jim Belushi is bringing his Board of Comedy improv show to Desert Diamond Casino on Saturday, Aug. 27.

But this is not an evening of the legendary comedian who cut his comedy teeth on the improv and make-up-on-the-fly stages of β€œSecond City” Chicago and β€œSaturday Night Live” joining a cast of standups for a well-rehearsed night of one-liners.

This is rapid-fire, fast-paced, off-the-cuff improv β€” situational comedy that springs up at the mere suggestion of a member of the audience.

Yes, this is interactive comedy, and not like the interaction you get from sitting too close to the stage at a cramped comedy club.

With Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy there is a distinct possibility that you could be the star.

In a 2013 Star interview on the eve of introducing the Board of Comedy to Tucson, Belushi described the show as chasing magic.

β€œEvery time we’ve done this show it’s been completely different,” he told us, with his son and then Board of Comedy cohort Robert also on the phone.

β€œI consider myself a magic chaser,” he said. β€œIn improv, the audience holds the magic dust in the form of suggestions.”

Belushi and his troupe β€” which is expected to include Larry Joe Campbell, Josh Funk, Megan Grano, Brad Morris and Trey Stone β€” will go into the audience and ask for situations.

This is an 18-and-older show, so expect some off-color suggestions. And we’re thinking that presidential politics might play some role in the night.
