Barry Manilow is bringing his last-hooray tour to Tucson Arena on May 2.
We are among the small handful of cities getting Manilow's "One Last Time" tour.
Manilow β the voice behind AC pop hits "Looks Like We Made It," "Copacabana," "Even Now," "Weekend in New England" and "Ready to Take A Chance Again" β told Billboard magazine last summer thatΒ this is his last big tour. He kicked it off with 27 dates last summer as he was marking the 40th anniversary of his breakout hit "Mandy" β which was his first No. 1 hit.
"It doesn't mean I'm retiring or anything," the 72-year-old signer-songwriter told Billboard. "I'll do shows and I'll promote albums if I make any more, but no more big tours. That's it. It's too much packing. It's 40 years -- more than that, really -- of packing and waiting for room service. People think it's glamorous, but glamorous is the last word I would use for this job. You don't see anything; you see the inside of your hotel room, you see the inside of a car, you see the inside of your dressing room and then you're gone. I haven't gone sightseeing, ever. It's a job."
This leg of tour will take him through June and to Europe, where he is set to play major arenas throughout the UK.
This is the first time we will see Manilow on a Tucson stage since he played a nearly sold-out show at the AVA at Casino del Sol in 2002.
Tickets βΒ $37.75 to $167.75 β are on sale now at Ticketmaster.
