Armitage closes

Armitage Wine Lounge & Cafe at La Encantada shopping center, which occasionally featured live entertainment, closed on Sunday. It had been open for nearly eight years.

Armitage Wine Lounge and Cafe in La Encantada closed for good at the end of business Sunday.

Owner Matt Rennfeldt could not be reached to comment, but a mall spokeswoman confirmed Armitage's final day in business was Sunday.

Rennfeldt opened Armitage in a 3,000-square-foot space at La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive, in summer 2007. The upscale shop focused mostly on boutique wines, many of them from California.

In addition to wine, Armitage had a restaurant that could seat about 148 diners.
