Dominoβs is opening its second so-called "pizza theater" in Tucson, this one in a building that's been around since the 1950s.
The national pizza chain, with a number of locations in the greater Tucson area, is taking up residence in the old Mr. Quick Restaurant at 3312 S. Sixth Ave. The kitchen is open so you can watch as workers construct your pizza.
The restaurant also features a lobby, indoor and outdoor seating and the ability to track carryout orders electronically on a lobby screen as well as a chalkboard where you can leave the team a note about your experience or draw a picture.
A grand opening will be on Tuesday. From April 27 to May 3, in celebration of National Carryout Special Week, customers can get a large two-topping pizza β carryout only β for $5.99.
Dominoβs has been in business since 1960 and has 11,600 stores around the world. Its global retail sales in 2014 were just shy of $9 billion, nearly half of that from U.S. sales, according to Dominoβs officials.
The "theater" design is the wave of Domino's future, according to a company spokeswoman who said all future restaurants will feature the open-kitchen.Β
