Fired Pie is offering $4 pizza/salad when you buy a beverage all day today, Tuesday, July 18.

Don'tcha love an excuse for free food?

Take Leap Year: It happens just once every four years so the kind folks at several mostly national fast-food outlets are celebrating those born Leap Year. Hey, think of it this way: They only get one shot every four years to celebrate their birthday on their actual birthday.

Here's some free stuff you can get if it's your REAL birthday on Monday, Feb. 29, and some treats even if it's not your birthday:

Fired Pie will give you a free birthday pizza or salad. You need to show them you ID. Fired Pie has two Tucson locations: 350 E. Congress St. downtown and 2645 E. Speedway.

• Sauce Pizza and Wine is looking at Feb. 29 as a gift of hours, as in a free 24 hours tacked onto the 8,760 hours in a non-Leap Year. And since it falls on 2-29, Sauce is offering you a side of their popular mac-n-cheese for $2.29 all day on Monday.

Pizza Hut nationwide including its Tucson locations is giving so-called "leaplings" a free personal pizza to carry out on Monday. Just show your ID with your birthdate on it.
