A new food truck, specializing in the Canadian snack known as poutine, opened shop in Tucson last month.

Zany Beaver offers three versions of the Canuck comfort food.

There’s the classic: homemade fries smothered in gravy and cheddar cheese curds.

The Bacon-Bacon: fries covered in gravy, cheese curds and bacon.

And the Hot Canadian: fries covered in gravy and jalapeño cheese curds.

A fourth rotating poutine, with styles such as the Chien Chaud Poutine, which comes with slices of hot dog, also is available.

Owner Dianne Brewer grew up in Quebec, the birthplace of poutine.

“It’s heavenly,” she said. “You can get poutine just about anywhere in Canada, even Burger King.”
