Tucson Symphony Orchestra added a special tribute to the late composer Stephen Paulus to this weekend's Brahms & Prokofiev concerts.

First on Friday and again this afternoon, the orchestra performs the second movement of Paulus'sΒ

Concerto in the American Style, which the TSO commissioned and premiered in 1998.

Tucson Chamber Artists, who also commissioned works from the Minnesota composer, will add to the memory flood when it performs a Paulus work at its concerts next weekend.

Meanwhile, Arizona Friends of Chamber Music is remembering Paulus, who died Oct. 19 from complications of a stroke he suffered July 4, by posting a recording of a piece he composed for the group in 2000.

Arizona Friends premiered "Exotic Etudes" for Viola and Piano Quartet, sponsored by John and Helen Schaefer, at the 2000 Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival.
