The Academy of Country Music has named Country Thunder Wisconsin the 2015 Festival of they Year.

The award, affiliated with but not part of Sunday's ACM awards in Texas, will be given out at the ACM Honors in Nashville on Sept. 1.

Country Thunder last weekend held what was easily its biggest Arizona festival in its 22-year history here. It also holds Country Thunder in Wisconsin in July; that festival is being honored with the ACM.

“Everyone at Country Thunder is so thankful to the Academy of Country Music and all of the voters for this prestigious award,” Troy Vollhoffer, executive producer of Country Thunder, said in a written statement. “It’s an honor to be named alongside the nominees and winners, which include the best venues, promoters and clubs in the industry.”

The 2016 Country Thunder will be April 7-10 in Florence. The lineup hasn't been announced, but four-day festival tickets go on sale Monday for $99.
