Maynards Market and Kitchen was singled out for its location inside Tucson's historic train depot at 400 N. Toole Ave.

Maynards Market and Kitchen has been highlighted in a glossy feature about "historic eats" in this year's Arizona Official State Visitors Guide.

The statewide brochure included the downtown Tucson spot in a list of Arizona restaurants operating in very old buildings. The list also features Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar in Flagstaff, The Haunted Hamburger in Jerome, Lutes Casino in Yuma and The Parlor in Phoenix.

Maynards is located inside the historic train depot at 400 N. Toole Ave., which was built in 1907. The property is currently on the National Register of Historic Places. The piece gives the history of Maynards and the depot, with this line:

“When an initial restaurant attempt in the space closed, the Oserans, avid downtown boosters and preservationists, stepped in, opening Maynards in 2008. Keeping with the historic theme and feel, they named the location in homage to Maynard Flood, a Southern Pacific Railroad engineer and artist Maynard Dixon, who painted four murals for the original depot.”

And also:

"The restaurant has become a runaway success, with guests sipping classic cocktails and tucking into homemade pastas, bouillabaisse, steaks and poutines."
