Now you can have your pie and eat it, too. Local bakers, pastry chefs and lovers of all things sweet will hit the YWCA Sunday, April 12, for an epic dessert feast.
The 12th Annual Pie Party will feature over a hundred pies, sold by the slice for $3 each, or two for $5. Proceeds go to select nonprofits chosen by the bakers of the two winning pies. Participating nonprofits include: Farm Education Resource Network, The HAPPY Org, Ironwood Tree Experience, Iskashitaa and Living Streets Alliance.
The Food Conspiracy Co-Op, who's running the event for the second year in a row, is still looking for more pie donations from the community. Anyone can submit a pie to be judged in one of these categories: fruit, cream, vegan, wheat free and other. People who submit will receive two free tickets for a slice of pie.
And as the Star's new digital food reporter, I will also be participating at the event as a pie judge! (I will be the one with the brown hair shoving pie into my face and clutching my stomach in delight ... ) So feel free to say hello and talk pie with me!
