As I was jotting down ideas for this newly launched beer column, I found it a challenge keeping the list of events, trends and new openings to one page.
Granted, I was using a reporterâs notebook, which is more compact than your traditional pad of paper.
But had this been five years ago, when I first started covering beer and breweries as part of my regular beats for the Star, the list would have been shorter.
Much shorter.
My colleague Hannah Gaberâs recent cover package on Tucsonâs ever-expanding beer scene examined just how far weâve come in such a short time.
Tucson has followed the national trend in craft beer growth, serving as home to waves of new breweries that have joined the likes of old guard establishments such as Barrio Brewing, Thunder Canyon and Nimbus.
This cityâs beer producers have won awards and received regional and national recognition for their efforts.
And as Gaberâs story reported, solid, Arizona-based craft beers can now be found in bars, restaurants and liquor stores across the city.
Tucsonâs craft brewing community and its ârising tide lifts all boatsâ approach, has done well for the up-and-comers and paved the way for new breweries to open.
We have several on the way, including Crooked Tooth Brewing Company, soon to launch at 228 E. Sixth St.
Green Feet Brewing, another new venture at 3669 E. 44th St., has set its grand opening for May 28.
More breweries mean more options, both in beer and entertainment.
Craft enthusiasts who enjoy yoga can attend Pueblo Vida Brewingâs Pints and Poses classes on Sunday mornings.
Space geeks can nurse an IPA while listening to UA educators talk about cosmic dust at the âSpace Draftsâ lecture at Borderlands Brewing next Wednesday, May 11.
Still need to find somewhere for mom on Motherâs Day?
Catalina Brewing Company in Marana is offering a complimentary Danish, fruit, cheeses and a flower if she shows up on Sunday, May 8.
We have enough events in Tucson to keep anyoneâs calendar full.
I look forward to exploring them with readers.
Cheers!
