Free food is offered at El Con Chick-fil-A

Go to Chick-fil-A at 3605 E. Broadway today through Saturday for some free grub.

Today, pick up a free spicy biscuit entree from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. If you miss that deal, stop by between 2 and 4 p.m. today and choose a free milkshake from one of the restaurant's five flavors.

On Friday, it's a free breakfast meal from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., and after that, get a free eight-piece nugget serving until closing.

Saturday's deal is a free brownie all day.

The Tucson Chick-fil-A stores are separately owned and operated, so these particular deals are only at the El Con location.

You must be present to get the deal, so you can't pick up extras for "friends." If you miss these deals, don't worry: Deals are being offered at the El Con Chick-fil-A location (www.cfaelcon.com) and others regularly.

Italian eatery opens on northwest side

The small storefront space at 4229 W. Ina Road has been home to pizza restaurants since at least the early 2000s.

The latest resident pie-tosser, Bella Vita Pizzeria, turned on the open sign at the end of June. But unlike its predecessors, Bella Vita strives to be a full-service Italian restaurant with a full menu of pastas, salads, pizzas and sandwiches.

Bella Vita is helmed by chef-owner Lorenzo Iacopelli, a Sicily native who has been in Tucson three years and was sous chef at Oro Valley's Cafe Torino. Iacopelli owns the restaurant, located across the street from the now-closed Roma Caffé, with his mother and brother.

His menu dresses up pizza - served by the slice ($2.50) or pie (price varies) - with house-made fresh mozzarella. The signature house pie stars fresh arugula and imported prosciutto di Parma. The house salad ($6) marries oranges, cucumbers and tomatoes on a bed of mixed greens.

Pastas run from classic spaghetti with house-made tomato sauce or bolognese to a seafood pasta with shrimp, clams and mussels tossed in a white wine butter sauce. Entree prices run from $10 to $20.

Bella Vita is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays; closed Tuesdays. Details: 572-6368.
