Beer and bacon fest

Expect to see these seats at the bar, where owner John Aldecoa was setting up before opening for dinner a few months ago, filled for the inaugural Bacon, Beer & Blues fest.

Bacon, beer, blues — sounds like a festival

In the world of foodie alliteration, there is perhaps none more drool-inducing than bacon and brews.

But throw in a blues soundtrack to lull you into this woozy, smoky, rich, bubbly state and you have a bonafide party.

Tucson Originals is bringing together bacon and beer and a smokin’ blues band (to be announced soon) for its inaugural “Bacon, Blues and Brews” fest Aug. 13 at Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon & BBQ, 1801 N. Stone Ave.

From 3 to 6 p.m., Tucson restaurants will showcase their best bacon creations, from the savory to the sweet while pouring local brews.

Tickets are $20 each and are limited. Get them at tucsonoriginals.instagift.com/bacon-blues-and-brews.com

Dakota menu favorites live on at Rounders

Dakota Bar & Grill in Trail Dust Town is now Rounders Grill.

But aside from some different decor and a new poker theme to the menu, the dog-friendly restaurant at 6541 E. Tanque Verde Road is virtually unchanged. The menu maintains most of Dakota’s popular favorites while “infusing a new take on burgers and sliders with a poker theme,” restaurant officials wrote to longtime customers.

The restaurant’s owner remains the same and Rounders will honor all Dakota certificates, gift cards and coupons. And while the popular “Birthday Club” is temporarily on hold, you can still get free eats on your special day by showing an ID. The birthday club picks back up in October.

Rounders is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
